The Department of Political Science offers graduate and postgraduate courses for students interested in learning about the political world around them, and to students seeking career options in government and related fields. The department was set up in the year 1992 with the establishment of the college. The department offers students an undergraduate specialization course - B.A. Political Science. The teaching-learning at the department aims to provide students with a rich and rewarding learning experience, one that sharpens their critical skills, engages them in political ideas and practices, and grounds them in the world, locally and globally. Students are encouraged to participate in multifarious activities and intercollegiate competitions. The post-graduate programme, M.A. Political Science was started in the academic year 2014-2015. In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as 'National Voters Day'. For the same purpose a rally was organized by the Pune Cantonment Legislative Assembly Electoral Constituency-Pune and the Department of Political Science, AISC on 25th Jan 2018 at 9:00 am from Arora Towers to Azam Campus. The Rally was flag off at the hands of Shri Shailendra Suryawanshi-Deputy Collector. There were 50 students, 20 NCC Cadets and 6 staff members who participated in the rally.The Theme of national voter day 2018 was Accessible India.

The Department of Political Science had organized Model Display, Board Display and Poster Competition on the occasion of 71st Independence Day. The events were held on 14th August 2017. The objective of this activity was to aware students about India’s Freedom Struggle, Political Leaders, and post independent historic events and to inculcate national values in the minds of students. Models of national leaders like, Pandit Nehru, Maulana Azad, Mahatma Phule and Ambedkar were displayed for the students. Express Yourself board had shown the journey of India’s Independence since 1857 to 1947 through tricolored booklets, which gave students glimpse of India’s history and political struggle. Poster competition was held on the theme of ‘Independence of India’ which got 86 entries from the students. All the activities saw large number of participation and created enthusiastic environment around the campus.

Department of Political Science organizes various activities on the occasion of Constitution Day on 26th November every year. There were interactive discussions on various constitutional related issues and different kinds of games were played. Students enjoyed all the activities and energetically participated in the activities. These activities helped to spread awareness about importance of constitution in life of citizens and to educate students about what are our fundamental rights and duties of citizens. The Department of Political Science had also organized reading of preamble the students have read preamble of Indian Constitution. Preamble is known as Mirror to the Constitution. The purpose of this activity was to make students know the facts of Indian constitution and to admire principles of constitution to be a responsible citizen of India. It is the duty of every Indian citizen that they should know the national resolutions which are reflected in the Preamble of our constitution of India. The students have made a collage of all-important amendments of the Indian Constitution.
