The Department of History was established in 1992. The subject is taught at the general level for BA undergraduate courses. The staff strives to impart a thorough knowledge of the subject through classroom teaching coupled with a variety of extra and co-curricular activities. The Department conducts activities such as students’ seminars, and paper presentations. A unique feature of the department of History is its add-on courses. The department successfully runs a “Certificate Course in Modi Script’ which helps students have access to the original documents of historical importance available only in the Modi Script. The department organises study tours to the Pune Archives, Museums and historical forts to give students exposure to the Auxiliary Sciences of History like Numismatics, Archaeology and Epigraphy. The department is also actively involved in conducting counseling and guidance sessions for students interested in various competitive examinations like U.P.S.C., M.P.S.C., Bank P.O., Railways, L.I.C.
