The Department of Commerce prides itself on having the largest student strength in the college. It has adopted a targeted, skill-oriented educational approach, where a student is trained in his/her naturally inclined field of interest and equipped with a skill set that would help in future. Special attention is given to inculcating entrepreneurship qualities among the students to make them self-reliant. The Department of Commerce, successfully conducts Autonomous and Certificate Courses in Tally, Event Management, Entrepreneurial Skills, Soft Skills, Basics of Stock Market etc. for undergraduate students. Every year the department organizes an intercollegiate CommFest featuring events such as Business quiz, Business Plan, Best Manager Contest, Mad Ads, Prospectus Making and One-act Play Competitions to develop leadership & professional skills and managerial qualities among students. Talent-based activities like Best Entrepreneur, Colour Art, Sketching, Best-Out-of-Waste, Ingredient Jugglery, Design Art competitions are organised to boost the confidence of the students and inculcate a high level of self-esteem amongst the students. Other events like Teachers Day, Parent Teacher Meet, Farewell Programme and Picnic are also organised by and for the students. The Post-graduate and Research Centre organizes UGC and BCUD sponsored National and International Conferences every year to imbibe a culture of research. To add, it publishes two bi-annual research journals viz. Cosmos (ISSN No.2249-6408) and MCE Society’s Journal of Interdisciplinary Research (ISSN no.2456-2750).
