The Postgraduate Department of Commerce follows the choice-based credit system introduced by Savitribai Phule Pune University from the year 2013. The duration of the course spans 2 years divided into 4 semesters. The course programme offers a student a wide range of subjects and equips them to be well-trained to accept the challenges of the changing business environment. The course equips students with knowledge and understanding of the recent trends in the areas of commerce and trade. It also aims to develop communication and presentation skills of the students as well as facilitate personality development. The P.G. Dept consists of qualified faculty. The department organizes various workshops, industrial visits, seminars and guest lectures for its students on a regular basis. It is actively involved in training the students to participate in various competitive exams like Banking, Navy, Railways and UPSC & MPSC examinations. The department also conducts various Skill Based Courses for students. These skill based courses are carried out as per the norms provided by Savitribai Phule Pune University. The courses are conducted by both academicians and industry experts so as to provide a complete practical application of the subject and to equip the students to acquire skills and thereby make them easily employable. The staff encourages students to publish papers under the guidance of PG faculty at International and National Conferences to inculcate the habit of research. The papers are published in Cosmos’ and a biannual journal “The Commercial & Economic Strides”. The Department of Commerce-PG organizes many events like Talent based activities like Minor research competition, surveys, Awareness on Sexual Harassment and Anti Ragging, Startup Ideation Competition at College Level under the Incubation, Innovation and Startup Cell as well as Extension activities. A Footwear Donation Drive in Collaboration with Barefoot Foundation was organized from 26th August to 6thSeptember, 2019 as a part of Teacher’s Day Celebration. All the students and staff of the college enthusiastically participated in this drive and donated around 500+ footwear’s to Barefoot Foundation an NGO that works for up liftment of people from underprivileged areas. The college joined hands with them in this noble and social cause. The donation drive was co-ordinated by Asst. Prof. Sadia Merchant.

The M.COM I & II students (Specialized in Advanced Cost Accounting & Cost System) had visited various Industries like ‘Yash Honda’,‘ The Jaws MfG.Co’, ‘Tanmay Enterprise’, ‘Sunrise Instruments Private Limited’, ‘Star Garments Manufacturing Company’, ‘Safe Lifters Pvt Ltd’, ‘Concrete Services Pvt Ltd’, ‘Khatri& Company’, ‘Renee’ , ‘Adistalo’, ‘DTL India Holdings Limited’& ‘Colney Furniture Works’ with the objective of finding out the Various Costing Techniques applied in their Industry/Company for M.COM I. The M.COM II went for the Industrial visit with the objective of finding out the Various Cost Audit Procedures followed in their Industry/ Company. The Students had made groups and had visited the Industries on their own and later submitted their findings in form of Report writing focusing on their observations made at the Industry. The Report on Industrial Visit was submitted to Ruksar Sharif (Incharge Faculty) in the form of Assignments for Continuous Evaluation. Apart from this, the students have made Power Point Presentation and presented their observations through the same. The Industrial Visits were scheduled between 11th Sept to 25th Sept 2019. The Industrial visit was immense help to students as students got Practical Knowledge about the functioning of various companies.

“Fresher’s Party” in any college is an event which every student eagerly awaits from their time of admission. The 21st of September 2019 was as a memorable day in the life of every fresher of M.Com batch 2019-20. The fresher’s day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter and happiness.M.Com second year students had organized various activities for the first year. The activities include dance, games, mushaira competition, fashion show and many more. The first years enthusiastically participated in all the activities. Prizes were given to all the winners of games. It was overall a fun and enjoyable day! A good teacher can inspire hope , ignite imagination and instill love for learning’. Department of Commerce-PG celebrated Teacher’s day with great fun and enthusiasm. A beautiful poem highlighting the importance of a guru (teacher) was recited by a student. A video showcasing the love affection and bond for teachers was played by the students. Also introduction for each teacher in a Shayri was given by Mss. Iqra student from first year was given. The programme began by 11:00 am with the cake cutting session. The students had also organized various games, fun question and answer session for teachers and many other such activities. Also few of the students showcases their respect to teachers by presenting them with hand made cards, gifts and chocolates. Overall it was a very memorable day for teachers as well as students.

Department of Commerce (P.G) had organized a Guest Lecture on “Cyber Security” on 25th Jan 2020 from 8.00 AM to 10.00 AM in A7 Classroom (Antique Building). Mr. Tanveer Mohammed Ilyas (Website Developers, IT Dept, Azam Campus) was the Guest Speaker. The Guest Speaker Covered important topics like Importance of Cyber security, Pre- The requisites in Information & Network Security, Security Management, Information & Network Security , System and Application security, Security & Insecurity of Social Media Accounts, stages of securing Mobile phone & other Apps installed on Mobile Phone. Ms. Ruksar Sharif, Assistant Professor was responsible for the Co-ordination & arrangement of Guest Lecture. It was an interesting session & very beneficial to all the participants of the course.

The Guest Speaker throwed light on various concept and instrument in Capital Market. He also helped the students to understand the current market position and gave the students idea for how to invest in share market. Also the guest speaker gave a demo on Online Trading in share Market. Ms. Amreen Siddiqui, Assistant Professor was responsible for the Co-ordination & arrangement of Guest Lecture. An “ORIENTATION PROGRAMME” was organized by the Department of Commerce-PG on 1st August 2019 (Thursday) at the Hi Tech Hall. The programme was started by formal welcome of the students. Introduction of Dr. Shaila Bootwala, Incharge Principal and all PG faculties was given by Prof. Sadia Merchant. Dr. Shaila Bootwala motivated students by focusing on inculcating the habit of writing articles and paper presentations at National & International Conferences/ Seminars and by participating at various activities to upgrade the knowledge and Skills. The programme was continued by brief introduction of the Commerce-PG programme, subject Specialization under Choice Based Credit System by Prof. Shirin naaz Shaikh ( Co ordinator of Commerce-PG). the programme was followed by introducing various skill Development and Value added certificate courses in collaboration with various Eminent Institutions & Professionals like, BAL DEVELOPERS ( Real Estate Industry), Advocate Nasir Inamdar and Associates ( Lawyer), Digital Marketing (Marketing Experts), etc. In the last part of the programme Prof. Shirin naaz shaikh presented a ppt presentation of the glimpse of all the activities conducted in 2018-19 for the students like guest lectures on competitive programmes, Research Methodology workshop, NET/SET workshop, workshop on Paper bag making out of waste news papers, plastic waste drive, guests lectures on finance, banking, participation and paper presentation of M.Com students at the National and International conference, visit to the Orphanages and welcome and farewell party were highlighted. Event Name: SWACHHATA HI SEWA CAMPAIGN PLASTIC WASTE COLLECTION & RECYCLING DRIVE Event Incharge : Dr. Sadia Merchant Date: 2019-09-11 Venue : Green Auditorium Event Details
A total of more than 30 + kgs of plastic waste was collected by students and staff of Abeda Inamdar Senior College during the Shramdaan week organized between 11th September to 2nd October 2019 All the waste collected was then handed over to Rudra Plastic Recycling Unit, they convert scientifically the plastic waste into poly fuel and for tarring of the roads. 23 staff members and 150 students from different departments and faculties participated in this drive. The Rudra unit appreciated the efforts of the students and staff in conserving the environment through this drive.

The Certificate Course was inaugurated on 23rd Sept 2019 and the Study kit was distributed to all the 40 participants of the course. The Resource Person was Mr. Ashley Amanna –Senior Manager at Shree Bal Developers & Ms. Amruta Pedram, free lancer Architect. After the Completion of Certificate Course, the Best 10 students who had performed well in the Business plan Contest will be given an opportunity to join as Interns for 8-15 days under Ashley Amanna in Shree Bal Developers. The Department of Commerce (P.G) had organized a Valedictory Programme for the Certificate Course on “Marketing Skills in Real Estate Industry in Collaboration with Shree Bal Developers” under Skill Development Programme on 05th Feb 2020. Mr. Ashley Amanna Senior Marketing Manager of Shree Bal Developers was the guest for the Programme. The Programme was scheduled on 05th Feb 2020 at 10.00 Am in Hi- Tech Hall. The 30 Hours Duration Programme was very beneficial and ended with distribution of Certificates and also awards were distributed to the winners of Best Sales Deal Competition. At the end of the Programme, the Resource Person Mr. Ashley Amanna offered Internship opportunity in Shree Bal Developers to 10 students.

The certificate course was basically designed to promote skills required for development and to inculcate professional Ethics and Human Values in the young minds. The programme was of 40 hours duration, 2 hours in a day, 2 days in a week beginning from 10th January 2020 to 10th March 2020. The Course Fee was Rs.600/- Per student and the total number of participants were 40 (22 girls 18 boys). This certificate course helped the students learn the nature of professional ethics and Human Values along with the techniques to develop their skills.
