The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002. The department runs a vocational course in Biotechnology at the undergraduate level. The syllabus incorporates some of the most current and significant subjects in the field of biotechnology namely Genetic engineering, Plant, Animal, Environmental & Microbial biotechnology, Entrepreneurship development etc. The department conducts different competitions for students like poster presentations, seminars, quizzes and research paper presentations. The department organizes guest lectures and study visits to give students an exposure to the advances in the field of Biotechnology, Staff members counsel students on ‘Career opportunities in Biotechnology’ and constantly encourage them to prepare for competitive examinations like JNU combined entrance exam for M.Sc.
